Initial assessment: Through a phone consultation, detailed questionnaire, and sleep logs as needed, I will gather information from you regarding your child's sleep habits, routines, environment and challenges.
Customized Sleep Plan: Based on the assessment information, I then create a customized sleep plan tailored to your child's needs and the family's goals. This plan typically includes recommendations for bedtime routines, sleep schedules, sleep environment adjustments, and strategies for addressing sleep challenges such as night waking, early rising, difficulty falling asleep, or short naps.
NO! I do not believe in using the cry-it-out method. I have a range of tried-and-true gentle sleep training techniques that fit every child’s temperament. While some methods may involve periods of crying, others are milder and more hands on with a focus on gradual changes to help children learn to self soothe and sleep independently. I will work collaboratively with you based on your comfort level to determine which technique is best for your child. Do keep in mind, however, that crying is your infant’s way of communicating with you. I will help you determine the meaning behind each of your child’s various cries, and how to address them while showing them your steadfast love and support.
No! Research has proven that sleep training methods, when implemented appropriately and with sensitivity to the child's needs, do not harm children or negatively impact parent-child attachment. We always emphasize the importance of responsive parenting and meeting your child's emotional needs during waking hours, and provide with you a variety of ways in which to do so.
The timeline for seeing improvements in your child's sleep can vary depending on factors such as their temperament, your chosen sleep training technique, and your consistency in implementing the sleep plan. Some families may see improvements within a few days to a week, while others may take closer to two weeks. The more hands off the approach, the sooner you are likely to see results, and conversely the more gentle the approach the longer it will take to see improvement. Please note that we will not leave you hanging until you are satisfied with your child’s results!
